MDG Xteme Core Conflict Challenge Winner Announced |
July 30, 2006 |
Robert Ritchie has been judged the winner of the MDG Xtreme Core Conflict Challenge held this month at Fragapalooza. Canada's largest gaming event and LAN party, Fragapalooza, was held over the weekend of July 27th – 30th in Edmonton Alberta. This year, MDG threw open a challenge to the gaming community to build the Ultimate Gaming PC. MDG Computers selected 5 Gaming PC enthusiasts from an online campaign where Fragapalooza participants submitted their ultimate Gaming PC design. The 5 selected contestants moved on to engage in a head-to-head battle to build the Ultimate Gaming PC before the Fragapalooza crowd. A panel of judges rated the games on parameters of innovation, ease of usage, and content among others. Their consensus along with the voting from Fragapalooza crowd finally tilted the scales in Robert Ritchie's favour. "Rather than dictate to the gaming community what the Ultimate Gaming PC product line would be, MDG Computers decided to approach the gaming community directly instead to find out what the PC gamers would like to see in the ultimate gaming PC. Robert Ritchie will influence and participate in the creation of MDG Computers’ new Gaming PC product line”. said Manny Amaral, Marketing Manager for MDG Computers. Robert Ritchie will get a $5,000 part-time Gaming Consultant contract from MDG Computers. The design concept will be used as a foundation for MDG’s new Gaming PC product line code-named :EVOLUTION.
"Being chosen for this competition truly was a dream come true! Winning was just a bonus, and would not have been possible without all the positive votes from my peers. I really need to extend my gratitude to a special group of people; GARAGELAN! If it was not for this group of Edmontonians, I don't think I would be where I am today. The gaming scene in Edmonton, is one of the best in the world, it's no wonder Fragapalooza calls us home. There are so many like-minded computer enthusiasts, it's hard not to get caught up in the moment sometimes, and it's a great feeling... People from all walks of life getting together to share ideas and just have a good time. I am lucky and feel honored to represent that community. Frag on." said Robert Ritchie, winner of Xtreme Core Conflict and MDG Computers new Gaming Consultant.
